Vertex Pest Control Review

How we review companies Handshake Score v1.2.1 (rules v1.0.5, confidence v1.2.1)

All figures retrieved October 11, 2026. “In score” marks the profiles counted in the customer-satisfaction factor.

In reviewers’ words

Quoted verbatim, up to 300 characters, as recorded by our researchers with the reviewer’s first name and last initial at most. Low and high ratings are shown alternately.

The 12-month figure is complaints filed in the last 12 months as shown (‘0 complaints filed in the last 12 months’). Only one complaint, so the themes are from a single complaint. Profile address: 75 Taylor Ave Ste 100, Meridian, Idaho 83642-2500.

Door-to-door sales: Not found

No evidence of door-to-door selling found: no D2D/summer-sales job posts, no recruiting site, no solicitor permits, and none of the reviews read (Google, HomeAdvisor, BBB complaint) describe a rep at the door. Evidence read points to inbound leads (HomeAdvisor lead calls, phone quotes, web quote form). A single Glassdoor ‘Sales Representative’ salary entry exists, but the Glassdoor employer profile could not be opened to confirm it is this Idaho company or what the role is. Company website has no careers page. The door-to-door badge stays “Not found” rather than ruling door-to-door selling out because absence of evidence is not proof.

Contract terms and pricing

• Residential protection program is quarterly visits backed by a one-year service agreement, with free re-treatment between scheduled visits.¹¹

“Our protection program includes quarterly visits to maintain your home throughout the year and is backed by a one-year service agreement. If your problems persist in between regularly scheduled visits, we'll come back to retreat for free!”

Scored: Sales and contract fairness (−1)

• Per the company’s own BBB complaint response (Oct 2024): the contract is for an initial 12-month period, and a customer who cancels early owes 60% of the remaining balance; the complainant was charged a $120 early termination fee.¹²

“the contract is for an initial period of 12 months, and that if cancelled early the customer is responsible for 60% of the remaining balance”

Scored: Sales and contract fairness (−1, −3)

• Pricing is custom-quoted: an initial fee plus monthly or quarterly recurring pricing.¹³

“offer a personalized estimate which typically includes an initial fee and monthly or quarterly pricing for recurring plans”

• Promotion: 50% off the initial service with a NEW one-year service agreement (quarterly plan); $50 off initial treatment for new customers (not combinable); 10% off quarterly services for active military/veterans; offers listed as expiring 10/31/2026.¹⁴

“Get 50% off your initial service when you sign up for a NEW one-year service agreement. Not valid with other offers.”

Scored: Sales and contract fairness (−1)

• Commercial recurring service includes a one-year service agreement with free return treatments between visits.¹³

“When you partner with Vertex Pest Control as a recurring commercial client, your service includes a one-year service agreement. If pest problems occur between regular visits, we’ll return and treat at no additional charge.”

• Gopher control is a one-time service starting at $149, with a 30-day retreatment at a discounted (not free) rate.¹⁵

“we offer a one-time service starting at $149, with pricing adjusted based on the extent of the burrow. Moreover, our commitment extends beyond initial treatment, as we provide a guaranteed 30-day retreatment at a discounted rate if needed.”

• Referral program: $50 credit to a customer who refers a new customer for a year of regular service (offer dated through 12/31/2025, still posted).¹⁴

“Any current customer who refers a new customer for a year of regular services will get a $50 credit!”

Status and expiry dates are shown exactly as the issuing agency’s record showed them on the date retrieved.

Only resolved government actions count toward the score. Pending lawsuits, allegations and private matters are listed here but marked “N/A” (not counted in the score). Summaries are our researchers’ wording of the source; allegations are allegations, not findings.

• October 3, 2024 · BBB Great West + Pacific · Complaint summaryScored: Complaint record, Sales and contract fairness (−3)

BBB shows 1 complaint in the last 3 years and 0 in the last 12 months. The one complaint (type ‘Order Issues’, status ‘Answered’) says spiders were never controlled, that the company contacted the customer’s daughter about his account, and that he was charged $120 to cancel. The company replied that he never requested a free re-service, that the signed 12-month contract carries an early-cancellation charge of 60% of the remaining balance, and that it contacted the daughter (also a customer, scheduled on the same day) to clarify his concerns.¹²

2 Reddit threads found mentioning Vertex Pest Control (search run October 12, 2026).

All of them are tied to a place in Washington, Oregon or Idaho.

We searched Reddit directly for "Vertex Pest" (2 posts returned) and read each post’s title and opening text. Comment threads weren’t fetched yet. Reddit threads are shown for context and aren’t part of the Handshake Score, except that first-hand Pacific Northwest reports of terms misstated at the sale or of ignored no-soliciting signs count toward sales and contract fairness, like any other report.

Pest control recommendation needed. (Not vertex)

A long-time Vertex customer in Boise cites “nickel and diming” and an email announcing a rate increase, and asks for a replacement company.

“Have been using Vertex pest control for years. Their nickel and diming I’ve had enough. Just got an email they are raising their rates.”

  Boise, Idaho · First-hand experience

• 18 independent websites cited (25 or more earns a point).

How confidence is set

Gaps in the record

• Google Maps (logged out) served a limited view on every listing: only 5 ‘most relevant’ reviews visible, sort and ‘more reviews’ would not load, and in-review search (‘cancel’, ‘contract’) returned the same 5. No newest or low-star Google reviews could be sampled, so Google negative themes are unknown, not absent.
• Web search gap-fill (October 12, 2026, 6 searches): no Reddit thread (a direct Reddit search later found two; see the Reddit gap), local news story, AG/FTC/consent-order or state-agriculture action naming this company surfaced. Still not searched: Nextdoor, Yelp, Porch, Birdeye profiles (no route; Yelp 403 earlier).
• Reddit: searched directly on October 12, 2026 through the SociaVault Reddit search API (query: “Vertex Pest”): 2 posts returned, 2 about this company, 2 tied to the Pacific Northwest. The threads are listed in the On Reddit section. Only post titles and opening text were read; comment threads weren’t fetched yet. Earlier, a site:reddit.com web search and a ‘”Vertex Pest Control” reddit Boise’ web search found no threads.
• Yelp returned HTTP 403; no Yelp rating recorded.
• Angi: guessed profile URL 404; no Angi profile found. Thumbtack Boise exterminators list does not include Vertex. Nextdoor, Porch, Birdeye: not checked (no URL known and search quota exhausted).
• Facebook: 437 reviews / 100% recommend visible, but review text needs login and was not read.
• Glassdoor overview/reviews blocked by Cloudflare; only the search card (5.0, 2 reviews, 2 salaries) and a Sales Representative salary page were read; entity location unconfirmed.
• Indeed’s 4.2 rating includes a 2013 Valencia, California review that is almost certainly a different company.
• ISDA lookup is by individual only; only the owner’s professional applicator license (56458) was verified. No company-level ISDA record or technician licenses checked.
• Washington (WSDA) and Oregon (ODA) pesticide licensing and Washington and Oregon business registries: not applicable — no Washington or Oregon locations or service areas found.
• No state AG, FTC, ISDA enforcement or court records found: CourtListener API search for “Vertex Pest Control” / “Vertex Pest” returned 0 results; Idaho AG site search for ‘pest control’ returned no Vertex items; web searches for lawsuits/violations (research) and for Idaho AG/settlement/lawsuit and FTC/consent order/AVC/Department of Agriculture violation (gap-fill October 12, 2026) found nothing naming this company. These are search-based negatives, not proof of absence: Idaho state court records (iCourt) and ISDA enforcement records were not queried directly, and Idaho city solicitor-permit lists were not found online.
• NPMA membership, QualityPro/GreenPro, HomeAdvisor ‘Top Rated’ badge and ‘2024 Quality Business Award’ are displayed on the company site but were not verified on the issuers’ sites (HomeAdvisor profile page did not show the badges; it lists ‘ECA of Idaho’ membership).
• Datanyze and ConsumerAffairs returned 403; Lantern directory pages returned 404.
• Google listing for Meridian displayed phone (208) 361-3917 in one limited-view load, different from the website’s 208-514-1671; not reconciled.
• Door-to-door sales model still unconfirmed: a gap-fill web search for Vertex sales-rep, door-to-door or hiring posts (October 12, 2026) returned no Vertex job posting; Lantern directory pages surfaced by search still returned 404 to the headless fetcher, and TheBuilderMarket (Buhl) returned 403.

Open questions

• Every Google listing shows a different phone number from the website. Seen live on October 11, 2026: Boise (208) 248-4336, Meridian (208) 361-3917, Eagle (208) 460-7223, Twin Falls (208) 618-2636. They may be call-tracking numbers. Addresses match the website. Not reconciled.
• Twin Falls Google listing: the verifier’s live loads did not render the review count. 883 reviews and the 4-star rating on Sonia F.’s excerpt are confirmed only from the same-day research cache.
• Google showed only the same 5 ‘most relevant’ reviews per listing to a logged-out viewer, so the absence of Google negative themes is a sampling limit, not evidence.
• Glassdoor’s employer profile is still Cloudflare-blocked. Whether the 5.0 rating and the ‘Sales Representative’ salary belong to this Idaho company is unconfirmed.
• ISDA lookup searches individuals only. Licensing for the company itself and its technicians is unverified; only the owner’s license 56458 is confirmed.
• The negative findings (no AG, FTC, ISDA or court actions) rest on the researcher’s limited searches. No search engine was used during verification, so they were not re-run.
