Notes on these figures (4)
  • Google, Vancouver, Washington: Google served a ‘limited view’ to the headless browser: only 5 ‘most relevant’ reviews, all 5-star, and the sort menu (newest/lowest) would not open. Negative Google reviews could not be read, so no negative themes are derived. Header: ‘4.9 (3,200)’.
  • Google, Portland, Oregon: Rating/count read from the Google place page header (re-fetched October 11, 2026; Google’s ‘limited view’ showed no review text, so there are no excerpts). The listing shows 9500 SW Barbur Blvd Ste 220, (971) 414-4474 and links to naturapestcontrol.com.
  • Angi, Vancouver, Washington: ‘Not Angi Approved’. Distribution: 78% 5-star, 11% 2-star, 11% 1-star. Per-review star values were not shown in the page text. The two negative reviews raise different issues (ineffective rodent service in 2023; a 2018 D2D sale described as ‘no contract’ that turned out to carry a cancellation fee), so neither counts as a multi-review theme.
  • Facebook, Vancouver, Washington: 90% recommend (98 reviews); 1.6K followers. Individual reviews need a login, so none were read.

Contracts and sales practices

Door-to-door sales: Partial

Door-to-door with summer college-student reps was Natura’s main channel for roughly its first seven years (founded 2013) and stopped at COVID; the company then shifted to digital marketing (PCT, Apr 2024). A June 2018 Angi review describes a Natura salesman at the door. No current (2025-2026) D2D job posts, solicitor permits or recent reviews describing reps at the door were found. The owners still host many Bug Bux Podcast episodes about D2D selling (2024-2025), but none of those pages says Natura currently knocks doors.

  • “For the first seven years of business, the company played into its strength of door-knocking, which proved to build a solid customer base and push growth. Every summer, a group of college students would come to work for the company”

    pctonline.com · retrieved October 11, 20263

  • “When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it wasn’t feasible for the company to door-knock anymore”

    pctonline.com · retrieved October 11, 20263

  • “Last month a salesman from Natura came to our door and offered us a discount supposedly based on a relationship they have with our land lord.”

    angi.com · retrieved October 11, 20266

  • “Eric started knocking on doors for Clark Pest Control in California when he was 18 years old.”

    buzzsprout.com · retrieved October 11, 20267

Contract terms and pricing

  • In a March 2025 BBB response, the company said the complainant had signed up for 12 months of service and could cancel immediately for a $150 fee, equal to the discount taken off the initial service.8

“you are welcome to cancel your account effective immediately for the cancellation fee of $150, which is equal to the discount you received off your initial service when you signed up for 12-months of service.”

Scored: Sales and contract fairness (−1)

  • The same complainant’s quarterly services were billed monthly under the company’s single-page signed agreement (company’s BBB response, March 2025).8

“You told us you were never made aware that you would be billed monthly for your quarterly services.”

  • The free-re-treatment warranty applies only to subscription customers, not one-time services (company’s BBB response, July 2025).8

“We clarified multiple times that the warranty is only included for customers who are on a monthly subscription program.”

  • A customer said a one-time ant treatment cost $449 (BBB complaint, July 2025).8

“The $449 treatment had no effect at all on the sugar ants in our home.”

  • In 2018 the owner described cancellation as returning the initial-service discount from a ‘5 service package’ (owner reply on Angi).6

“all you have to do is pay the regular initial service price by returning the discount that was given off of the initial service for doing the 5 service package”

Scored: Sales and contract fairness (−1)

  • Subscription: monthly billing, scheduled treatments every 90 days, free re-service if pests return between visits (company FAQ).9

“Our subscription plan guarantees ongoing protection for your property against pests, with scheduled treatments every 90 days. If pests reappear before we return, we’ll re-service your home at no extra charge!”

We found no Reddit discussion of Natura Pest Control (search run October 12, 2026).

We searched Reddit directly for "Natura Pest" (Vancouver OR Portland) (1 post returned, none about this company) and read each post’s title and opening text. Comment threads weren’t fetched yet. Reddit threads are shown for context and aren’t part of the Handshake Score, except that first-hand Pacific Northwest reports of terms misstated at the sale or of ignored no-soliciting signs count toward sales and contract fairness, like any other report.

Gaps in the record

  • Yelp (natura-pest-control-vancouver-3, linked from the company site) returned HTTP 403 to both the headless browser and text fetch, so rating and reviews are unverified. Expertise.com shows a secondhand ‘Yelp 3.4 (74)’, which was not confirmed on Yelp.
  • Google Maps served only a ‘limited view’ (5 ‘most relevant’ reviews, all 5-star). Sorting by lowest or newest was blocked, so negative Google reviews could not be read. Portland listing showed no review text.
  • Washington Secretary of State CCFS search page would not load its search form. Washington registry facts (UBI 603328541, Active, 2024 dissolution/reinstatement) come from OpenCorporates’ mirror and the UBI on the WSDA record.
  • Idaho: this company lists no Idaho service area. ISDA was not checked. The Boise/Meridian ‘Natura Pest Control’ (naturapc.com) is a different-site business and was excluded.
  • Trustpilot: no profile at trustpilot.com/review/naturapestcontrol.com (page not found). No Nextdoor page could be loaded. HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack, Porch and Birdeye profiles were not found.
  • ACE credentials (Jake Claus, Eric Bassett): the ESA/entocert.org certification pages have no public ACE directory that could be located (directory URLs return 404), so this is unverified.
  • Enforcement/AG: CourtListener search returned no results. Washington AG news-release site search URL returned 404. Oregon DOJ site search returned no Natura mention. WSDA and ODA have no public searchable enforcement-action databases that could be located. Searched, nothing found; this is not proof of absence.
  • Local news: a columbian.com site search for ‘natura pest’ / ‘natura pest control vancouver’ returned no relevant articles.
  • Employee reviews: Glassdoor has a single ‘Natura Pest Control’ employer (EI 5469362; 2.7, 8 reviews) whose only job is in Meridian, Idaho; its overview page returned 403. Indeed’s only ‘Natura Pest Control’ page (3.8, 19 reviews) has reviews only from Reno/Sparks, Nevada. Both appear to be the Reno naturapc.com company. No employer page for the Vancouver company was found on either site, so no employee reviews are on file.
  • Columbian Best of Clark County: the 2024 ‘Best Pest Control’ win is confirmed in the Columbian’s winners section (14 Sep 2024). The 2022 badge on the company site and the ‘3 Years in a Row’ ad claim (implying 2022-2024) are not confirmed for 2022 or 2023; those years’ winners lists were not located.
  • No Reddit discussion found for “Natura Pest” (Vancouver OR Portland) on October 12, 2026 (SociaVault Reddit search API; 1 post returned, none about this company). Comment threads weren’t fetched. Two earlier web searches (Vancouver Washington / Portland / r/pestcontrol / r/doortodoor) also returned no Reddit results.
  • Web searches (October 12, 2026) for AG / FTC / consent order / AVC / civil penalty / lawsuit and for 2024-2026 local news found nothing about this company. Not proof of absence.

Open questions

  • Yelp rating/reviews unverified (403); the only Yelp figure is Expertise.com’s secondhand 3.4 (74).
  • Negative Google reviews could not be read (limited view, 5 “most relevant” 5-star reviews only), so Google themes are one-sided.
  • Outcome of the customer’s reported Oregon AG complaint (BBB 23637490) is unknown; no public AG action located.
  • ACE credentials (Jake Claus, Eric Bassett) and the Columbian Best of Clark County 2022 award category are unverified with the issuers.
  • PMP (Sept 2025) says Greg Young “later opened the first Natura company in Vancouver, Wash.”; any early link between this company and the Reno Natura group is unconfirmed.
  • WSDA direct record URL carries a ts parameter; if it stops resolving, re-find via the WSDA company search (CompanyId 3705).

Notes on identity

  • PMP (Sept 2025) says Greg Young ‘later opened the first Natura company in Vancouver, Wash.’ before Natura Reno (2017, Burress/Young; HQ Reno; naturapc.com; also Proterra Pest Control in Tri-Cities Washington). This Vancouver company credits Jake and Jana Claus as founders in 2013 and lists only the Claus family and Eric Bassett as owners. Any early ownership link to Young or the Reno group is unverified. The two now operate separate websites, licences and listings. Reno’s Indeed reviews mention D2D sales reps; those are not attributed here.
