The Best Pest Control Companies in the Pacific Northwest

A rain-wet neighborhood street of craftsman homes under tall firs, with a plain white van parked at the curb.

We rank pest control companies on their Pacific Northwest operations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. By our evidence, nine of them sell door to door and three do in part.

Each company has a research record built from public sources; together the records cite 1,312 sources. A verifier then re-checked 2,299 facts against those sources, confirming 1,753, correcting 531 and removing 7.

The Handshake Score is computed only from those sourced facts, across five weighted factors. Missing data never counts for or against a company, and every deduction links to its source on the company’s page.

Each score carries a confidence rating of High, Medium or Low, based on how much evidence sits behind it and how well that evidence held up when checked; see how confidence is set.

  • N/A means not scored. When the record has no usable inputs for a factor, that factor is left out and the company’s remaining weights are scaled up to 100% (renormalized), so the score isn’t pulled up or down by missing data.
  • Workplace is rated separately from employee-review sites and isn’t part of the Handshake Score. It’s shown only with at least 20 employee reviews on file (14 companies have one).
  • PNW Google reviews is the count-weighted average rating and total review count across each company’s Washington, Oregon and Idaho Google listings. States are those with a location on file.
  • Reddit threads counts the Reddit threads we found about each company in a direct Reddit search on October 12, 2026, from customers, the public and employees, in any region. It’s shown for context and isn’t scored.
  • BBB grade “Varies” means the company’s Pacific Northwest branches carry different grades; the company page lists each one.

How we ranked

The Handshake Score runs from 0 to 10. It’s a weighted average of five factors, each scored from 0 to 10 using only verified, sourced facts about the company’s Pacific Northwest operation. Company-wide facts count when they concern the same brand or legal entity, and the company page labels them.

Handshake Score factors and weights
FactorWeightWhat it measures
Customer satisfaction30%Google rating across the company’s Pacific Northwest listings, weighted by review count, blended with independent review platforms when they have enough reviews.
Complaint record20%BBB complaints in the last three years per 1,000 customers (Pacific Northwest Google reviews stand in for customers), with deductions for unanswered complaints, BBB alerts and low grades.
Sales and contract fairness20%Starts at 10. Deducts for long minimum terms, cancellation fees, auto-renewal, phone-only cancellation, arbitration clauses and documented sales misconduct.
Licensing and compliance15%Starts at 10. Deducts for confirmed suspended or expired pesticide licenses, advertised license numbers that don’t check out, lapsed registrations and serious safety violations.
Legal and regulatory record15%Starts at 10. Deducts for resolved government actions, criminal pleas and settled class actions, more heavily for the last five years.

The rules that matter most

  • Pending lawsuits aren’t scored

Only resolved matters count: government settlements, orders and judgments, criminal pleas and settled class actions. Pending lawsuits, private suits and allegations appear on company pages but don’t affect the score.

  • Missing data never counts as good or bad

A factor with no usable inputs is left out and the other weights are scaled up. That applies to 7 companies here. An unknown contract never earns a perfect score.

  • Company-wide BBB totals aren’t scored yet

For 6 companies, BBB complaint totals can’t yet be tied to a comparable customer base, so the complaint record isn’t scored. Their BBB review averages still count toward customer satisfaction.

  • Workplace is kept separate

How a company treats its employees is rated from employee-review sites and shown beside the Handshake Score, never in it. Wage-and-hour cases count there, not in the legal record.

Factors not scored

Ties are broken by Pacific Northwest review volume. Each company page shows the full breakdown, with every point added or taken away linked to its source. This ranking uses Handshake Score v1.2.1 (rules v1.0.5, confidence v1.2.1).

Reddit footprint is shown for context, not scored. We searched Reddit directly for every company and list the threads we found on each company page, but how much a company is discussed there doesn’t move its score. A first-hand Pacific Northwest report on Reddit of terms misstated at the sale or of ignored no-soliciting signs counts the same as one on any other site.

What we couldn’t verify yet

Every record lists what couldn’t be checked. These gaps recur across the category:

  • Reddit comment threads. Not fetched yet. We searched Reddit directly on October 12, 2026 and read each post’s title and opening text, but not the replies. Reddit threads are shown on company pages for context and aren’t scored.
  • Google showed our tools a limited view of reviews. Noted in most records: Google Maps showed our tools only a few reviews per listing or wouldn’t sort them, so review themes rely on the reviews that could be read.

Confidence by company: High for 7 and Medium for 13. It comes from points for how many factors could be scored, the volume of Pacific Northwest reviews, whether the figures are regional or company-wide, the verifier’s ratings and corrections, license lookups in each state and the number of independent sources (how confidence is set). Reddit coverage doesn’t affect confidence. No score is low-confidence, so none is marked provisional.

Each company page lists its own gaps under “What we couldn’t verify.”
